Firstly, you’ll need to provide proof of who you are and where you live.
Proof of ID – Passport, driving licence.
Proof of Address – Passport (if not used for proof of ID), driving licence (if not used for proof of ID), council tax bill.
One of the most important things that lenders will want to know is ‘how much do you get paid’.
Proof of Income for an Employed Applicant – Last 3 months’ payslips or 13 weeks’ payslips if you’re paid weekly.
Proof of Income for a Self Employed Applicant – 2 years’ tax calculations & tax year overviews.
Proof of Income for a Zero Hour Contract Applicant – 52 weeks’ payslips.
Bonuses, commission & overtime will be evidenced on your payslips or P60.
Lenders need to know how well you conduct your finances and whether you’re a reliable customer or not.
Proof of Affordability – 90 days of bank statements.
Lenders will pay particular attention to your salary, outgoings, recurring bills, bounced direct debits and gambling transactions.
Overdrafts are generally okay, as long as you are living within your means.
Although this can be the hardest part to evidence on your document trail, it’s essential that you provide proof of how you got your deposit.
Proof of Deposit – If the savings have been built up in an account over time, this will be evidenced on your bank statements.
Proof of Gifted Deposit – Keep the lump sum inside the donor’s account.
Large bank transfers may force your lender to ask questions. Large credit transfers will always need to be evidenced for anti-money laundering purposes.
